- Get Your OwnAs has been the case for all of Madonna's albums, even American Life, Confessions On a Dance Floor is filled with listenable tunes, many of which stick firmly in the memory after just a few spins. A perfect example is the current single "Hung Up." The lyrics are forgettable, but that huge Abba sample combined with a powerful throbbing dance beat sticks in the mind like glue. Already, that ticking clock at the beginning of "Hung Up" is like a Pavlovian stimulus to the brain making its music pleasure center drool at the prospect of absorbing a lump of sweet, sticky pop music. The "I Feel Love" electro-throb underlining "Future Lovers" and "Popcorn" samples weaving through "Forbidden Love" serve a similar purpose.
Trivia Time! For those of you who think she stole the song "Gimme, Gimme, Gimme" for "Hunf Up" from ABBA, here is an interesting fact you should all know. Abba does not give rights to their songs to just anyone, in fact Madonna is one of two people who have ever been given rights to a song of theirs. That's a very impessive percentage considering that Abba trusted Madonna enough to allow her creative control over gimme, gimme, gimme.
It may be a return to core values, but there's still a bravery about Confessions on a Dancefloor. It revels in the delights of wilfully plastic dance pop in an era when lesser dance-pop artists - from Rachel Stevens to Price's protege Juliet - are having a desperately thin time of it. It homages the DJ mix album, a format long devalued by computer-generated cash-in compilations. It flies in fashion's face with a swaggering hint of only-I-can-do-this: "If you don't like my attitude," she suggests on I Love New York, "then you can eff-off." Dancing queens of every variety should be delighted.
At where I work, Maddie's music from this album was a great stresst reliever, we just has to put her music with other great, danceable hits in the Soundtrack of Team Quincy ( Sales Confirmations for Dish ).Waiting for this cd for a long time and am I ever happy it arrived in late 2005. I have enjoyed Ms. Ritchies's CD for almost 2 years now! I have loved Madonna since I was a child and everything she does, is made with such creative passion.
